  • List: Which of Manny Pacquiao's Opponents Were In Their Prime?

I'm feeling inquisitive and would like to read your opinions on a few of Emmanuel PacquiaO's opponents.

From the following list of fights; state whether Pacquiao's opponent was either:

Green, Prime, Post-Prime or "Over The Hill"

    My definitions:

    Green = Inexperienced and Pre-Prime.
Prime = Fighter is at the peak of his Boxing career.
Post-Prime = Fighter is at the latter stages of his peak.
Over-The-Hill - Fighter is a shadow of his former self, shot fighter etc etc

    Manny Pacquiao vs

    Lehlohonolo Ledwaba
    Marco Antonio Barrera 1
    Marco Antonio Barrera 2
    Juan Manuel Marquez 1
    Juan Manuel Marquez 2
    Erik Morales 1
    Erik Morales 2
    Erik Morales 3
    Oscar Larios
    Jorge Solis
    David Diaz
    Oscar De La Hoya
    Ricky Hatton
    Miguel Cotto
    Joshua Clottey

Note: Try to keep this hate free.

My list will be similar to this bar, MAB II.

What are the reasons you believe MAB wasn't a shot fighter in the second fight?

he was very competitive with jmm imo.

he could have won that fight if a couple things went his way.

between his 1st loss to pacquiao to his 2nd loss to pacquiao , he beat morales , peden , juarez , ayala. only loss was to jmm a few months earlier and that was competitive.

a shot barrera doesn't put a competitive fight up against the version of jmm who one could say beat pacquiao , kos casamayor and diaz.

Fair enough. This sounds reasonable to me.

I might have to rethink my opinion.

It's about the same apart from Cotto/Hatton bit

Hatton was at his best vs Kosta.. not after coming from a Knockout and being badly shaken by Lazcano.

Cotto was prime around the time he fought Mosley not after he got battered into submission by Margaritto and went live and death with Clottey.

Btw im not saying they aren't good wins (the Cotto one is really great) but they certainly were past prime in my view.

hatton looked the best i've ever seen him against malignaggi just the fight before.

                    cotto can be past prime.

i have to see him in his next fight.
