i do hate their egos... HUGE

i have no quarrels with them though, the education system shams them for 240k for their degrees, then they have to do residencies at 40k/year 70hour weeks, so who are we to say they ask too much money?
i don't mind what they change, but lets not get carried away thinking they are all pious and out to help society above all.

they are part of this whole mess just like everyone else is.

        its a career

        its supply and demand

there are bad doctors and good doctors, just like there's bad mechanics and good ones... i look at doctors no differently

im not against ALL insurance, but i dont think such things as checkups/physicals/colds etc should be covered...

prices were within reason before Medicaid came in and inflated them, the third parties boomed as well

if i could purchase insurance that was JUST for what "insurance" is supposed to be for (unforeseen expenses, etc) i'd be much happier...

i always resort back to the analogy of auto insurance doesnt pay for brakes, oil changes etc...

there is insurance out there for what you are asking. problem is that things such as xrays cost so damn much. please, don't get me started on how much a freaking stress test or mri or cat scan costs. these are so popular for even minor things that you need insurance to cover it.

            oh im aware...

            and malpractice almost mandates it

the hospitals i've worked for wont do **** without scans all over the damn body, and why? because in the freak chance they dont and someone has "something" or something happens, they will get sued to high heaven...

and insurance companies are restricted from crossing state lines? GTFO that alone will lower health care costs IMO

              • From what I've gathered:

-The main objective of people opposed to it seems to be that we are being forced to help out private insurance companies who are going to get their biggest paydays thus bailing them out.

-Canada seems to have it together but they have a long waiting list which = deaths or delay in help for those that need healthcare, which is supposed to be the whole purpose of this bill (minus the insurance co bailout we're not supposed to know about)

-Some were even saying that the insurance companies are corrupt and we should rid of them alltogether. Though I don't see how that would work because if we allowed Doctors to choose their own prices then who's to stop them from overcharging? I know Jack was making the point of comparing hospitals to grocery stores, where there's different markets for different economic classes but I don't see how Doctors can charge fair prices and still maintain quality healthcare when medicine and medical equipment is so expensive for them to buy.

-I don't like the idea of paying a penalty (to help out these ins co) for those who can't afford or don't want insurance but I also don't like the idea that healthcare is not available to everyone.

Like I said earlier, it seems like there's never a right answer.

I feel like this is a damed if you do, damned if you don't situation.

                What's a good/fair solution?

I think I'm more confused than before lol. I know you said this is an economic issue Vet and I agree but it's just all politics to me homie.

healthcare is available to everyone. even if you have no money, they don't send you out into the streets.

this is a very complicated thing. i couldn't fit a solution on 3 posts on here. there are things that could be done to help, like lowering liability insurance costs or limiting malpractice settlement amounts. increasing prescription competition by reducing the time before a generic can be released, creating a national network for especially sick/diseased people that would have expenses set forth. stop giving people free care at the expenses of the rest of society.
