  • Tommy morrison would be champ in todays era

Been rewatching some of "the duke"

We all know his chin frailties especially if caught cold.

But he was a fantastic puncher, very fluid and if you watch his fights he actually had good movement too.

Hed blast out most of todays heavies

Also, David Tua, Ike Ibeabuchi, Razor Ruddock, Ray Mercer.

Hell...even a peak 1980 version of Gerry Cooney would clean up this division.

An era where we have Charles Martin, Joseph Parker and Deontay Wilder as champs is ****ing terrible. They wouldn't be top 20 in the 90s.

He had a GREAT left hook. And with 4 titles he could have won one sure. But he also had bad stamina, bad chin,And was not hard to hit.But i remember a story by R BOWE where he was talking about am days I think right before 88 trials where he said guys were like picking staws to spar with him because of his power in left hook.Bowe was #1 S Heavy in country but no one was real crazy about sparring with him.Which is kinda funny because the top am reg heavy was M Bent but he got upset twice in trials by Ray Mercer.Who both would go on to KO tommy in pros.As I believe Bowe would have also kinda easy.

Wilder would be top 10 in 90s easy and maybe even Parker at very bottom

No one got a left hook as good as he had today

Looking at past HW's and thinking about how they would do today kinda puts things in perspective. The Klitschko's, in their prime, were legit top HWs. Since then, the bar has been lowered quite a bit. In the past, a young champ would DOMINATE a former champ in his 40's.
