  • Rungvisai KO Gonzalez > Pac KO Barrera

Rungvisai just KO'd the so called best p4p fighter in boxing. Many even considered him undefeated due to being robbed in the first fight. Gonzalez was clearly the favorite, media darling, and HBO's choice to move on to bigger, better things. People on this forum even argued that Gonzalez was better than Floyd and would break the 49-0 record in more impressive fashion.

The Barrera that Pac defeated was not considered p4p the best in boxing and had already had his azz handed to him in several fights prior to Pac. Barrera also was never compared or considered to be in the same class as the Mayweathers, Mosley's or De La Hoya's of the time.

Everybody jumped on Pac's jock strap at the time so why the lukewarm reaction to Rungvisai? Seems like people upset or something

rungvisai did outdo pac in that ko over pac's of barrera but he is nowhere close to manny overall.

this dude will prolly fade away after a few tough fights. no head movements, no setting up nothing. just pure power and determination of coming forward.

Already predicting his downfall, why? Pac was even less skilled, he was a one handed fighter, could throw nothing but the one two over and over again, and his defense was even more suspect. The difference to me is HBO was already done milking Barrera at the time, it was still prime juicing time for Gonzalez.

Rungvisai just dispatched one of there last contract fighters.

People only note Rungvisai's lack of defense and head availability but discard everything else that allowed him to beat Roman. Sure he has power, determination/heart and chin but God Damn look at his timing. Sure he is slow af, but his timing and power was what put Roman out of commission.

He beat chocalito to the punch almost every time. He's not slow at all man, choc was the smaller man and still was not as fast

It's called timing. His punches were timed better and he didn't loop the KO punch as hard as Roman did.

the KO punch wasn't a timed counter.

it was the tail-end of a combo.

                  it just got there faster.

Just had to rewatch it and I see what you mean. I stand corrected. It was like you said, at the tail end of a combo in which both men fired and Rungvisai's bomb detonated first.

Good call and thank you for the correction.
