Cue talk of Pacquiao ducking Alvarado The way Arum works, the fight will probably end up being even worse. Get ready for Pacquaio/DeMarco or Pacuqiao/Samuel Vargas. Hell we might get Pacquaio/Marquez 5: The Redemption

        I agree with this 👆

This isn't how Arum does business.
Arum invested a lot of money into Alvarado back in 2012/3 and he's trying to cash him out. I think Manny knows he only has a couple fights left and Alvarado is a step backwards and waste of time. Given his limited schedule as a senator, I think he wants the best bang for his buck. Alvarado isn't that guy.

Official: Manny Pacquiao won’t fight Mike Alvarado on April 14 in support of Horn-Crawford

              by Ryan ********

Manny Pacquiao won’t be fighting on the Jeff Horn-Terence Crawford card eyed for April 14, in Las Vegas, according to Pacquiao’s media manager in the Philippine Senate, Zonio Aquiles.

Pacquiao had been rumored to fight Mike Alvarado but Aquiles told RingTV.com that fighting in a non-headlining role would be an “insult” to the eight-division champion.

“It’s confirmed: Senator Pacquiao will not be fighting on the undercard of the Crawford-Horn fight. It’s an insult to him!” Aquiles said via text message.

Messages to Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz and Top Rank Vice President Carl Moretti were not returned by the time of this story’s publication.

Pacquiao (59-7-2, 38 knockouts) hasn’t fought since losing a controversial decision to Horn last July in Brisbane, Australia, and it remains murky when he’ll fight again, and whom will be in his corner. The Los Angeles Times quoted Freddie Roach this past weekend, voicing his uncertainty about whether he would train Pacquiao for future fights.

“I usually leave him alone until I hear from him but I’ve called him five times and haven’t heard back. Maybe he changed his number,” said Roach, who has trained Pacquiao since his U.S. debut in 2001.

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum had told RingTV last week that he would let Pacquiao pick between facing Vasyl Lomachenko and Crawford in the fall, if he could get a win in April.

Pacquiao has been focusing on his political career in the Philippines, where he served two terms as a representative for Sarangani province before being elected to the Senate in 2016.

Jerwin Ancajas, the IBF junior bantamweight titleholder, who Pacquiao co-promotes with Top Rank, has been told to stay ready, as his mandatory title defense against his Filipino compatriot Jonas Sultan could replace Pacquiao, Tempo’s Nick Giongco reported.

Ancajas, who stopped Israel Gonzalez in 10 rounds on February 3, is reportedly already in training at his “Survival Camp” compound in Magallanes, Cavite, Philippines.

MP Promotions matchmaker Sean Gibbons told RingTV.com, “That is correct” when asked if that was the current situation.
              cool thanks

Smells like a fallout, soon, between Arum, Pacquiao and Roach. How can Pacquiao be A side on a return? Horn’s handlers have taken the lead. Crawford will defend his negotiating side. Klimas with Lomahenko will hold their stance. Seems like Pacquiao is running out of options with the new stars under Top Rank. The Alvarado fight to begin with, which industry writer would boast about that? Pacquiao should fight in the UFC and make multi millions
Only thing I saw was on boxrec (still there too) but again nothing "official"

Doesn’t Mattysse hold the secondary WBA trinket now? If so, it’s a way for Pac to at least get a secondary title. He could pretend he’s in line for Thurman thru the WBA. Maybe Bob, aka the snake, sees this as a way to get PAC vs Keef....even though there are obviously political boundaries, it’s the way to get the most out of Pac’s return before retirement. Hell you know Keith would gladly accept that for his fall fight. I think it would draw a lot of publicity, which = $$$$$

Good luck to Manny in fighting a non-TR guy then. I don't see it happening. But yea I can understand Manny wanting more impactful fights, but I can see where Arum is coming from to with how promotions do business. If anyone is getting the rub from beating Manny, & Manny is extremely beatable these days, it'll be a TR guy or Manny is gonna be sitting out the rest of his time with Arum if he doesn't bend.
