Derevyanchenko's last fight was against Dashon Johnson, the guy had 22 wins and 22 losses. How did he become a Mando beating a guy like that?

This was boxing politics, and GGG was robbed by the IBF, imo.

Those claiming Derevyanchenko deserves his shot, which he probably might, but how the hell is he Mando after beating this guy?

He became IBF mandatory after defeating Tureano Johnson the fight before Dashon Johnson.

He became mandatory after Tureano. Tureano was a mandatory in 2016 but got injured before he could fight Golovkin. He was out of the ring for awhile, and when he came back he had to fight to get his mandatory spot back. Tureano was competitive against Derevyanchenko in the beginning, but took a LOT of punishment before getting TKOd after a knockdown. Sergiy looked very tired in the fight and received some damage in reutnr, but Tureano was a mess throughout the fight.

There are 4 belts, 4 opportunities to get a mandatory. You can become a mandatory without going through any tough opposition. It sucks and in the future, they should create better rules for the mandatories for unified champions.

Golovkin is seen as the #1 in the weightclass. It used to be that the challenger should have earned his stripes to challenge the champion.

None of those guys who are mandatories at 160 have earned it the hard way. Charlo has a case, because he was champion at 154, but he has done jack s hit at 160.
With 4 sanctioning bodies who can force a mandatory, there are no incentives to fight challenging fights until the shot at the champion, which means that every contender at 160 is just waiting until it is their turn.

The way it is right now, a division comes to a halt, whenever there is someone who holds 3 or more belts, because no one is going to risk their chance. It happened with Golovkin and it happened with klitschko when he was holding 3 belts.
At that time none of those contenders were fighting against other top10 guys.

It would also have happened to 140, if crawford had stayed at 140 and it will happen to cruiserweight, if the winner of the WBSS is staying at cruiserweight.

The way the current rules are, it is bad for a divison to have a unified champion and that shouldnt be the case.

Tureano Johnson was the eliminator, the other dude was a stay busy fight ala chavez sr when he fought a couple of cab drivers between big fights

Maybe he drives a taxi part time. Some of the other mandos GGG fought were supposed to be taxi drivers according to some. Maybe he is a tomato can like GGG's former mando opponents were supposed to be. GGG is always wrong. If he fights a mando he is wrong and if he doesn't fight him he is wrong. Fact is the guy only has 12 pro fights and never beat any middleweight that most boxing fans ever heard of. GGG may have reasons for not fighting him but fear of losing isn't one of them.
