Can you still win a round you've been knocked down in?

I would say without knocking down the fighter who knocked you down the best a knocked down fighter could hope for is an even round if he beat the fighter who knocked him down from pillar to post in the remaining portion of the round.

A KD is 1 point, he reason that a round is usually scored 10-8 when a knock down occured is because it is very rare for a judge to score a round to a fighter that was KD, but it has happened before. And yes you can win a round if you have been been KD, by returning the KD, a KO, giving the opposing fighter a standing count, or as it said above in someone else's explanation, be given 2 points for a really dominant round.

A clean knock down usually gets the fighter who scored it a 10 to 8 round even if the fighter who was knocked down gets up and wins the rest of the round. That may not be fair but from what I have seen in hundreds of fights that's usually the way it is. The best bet for him to win the round is to return the knock down and then win the rest of the round. That is how Martinez won a 10-9 round on some cards after Williams knocked him down early in the round.

Or would it be a 10-8 score from there?

Judges use the 10-Point Must System in professional bouts. This system assigns ten points to the winner of each round. The loser receives nine points for a close round, eight points if he was knocked down or dominated, and seven points if he was knocked down twice. If a round is even and neither boxer was knocked down, both boxers receive 10 points. If each boxer was knocked down once, the knockdowns are disregarded and the winner of the round receives 10 points, while the loser receives nine points.
