They say Mike Tyson was a big boxing fan/historian (which is true) but how could he then rate Pinklon Thomas as a better boxer than Larry Holmes when asked to rank his top 10 heavyweights in June of 1985? His number 3 selection was David Bey...... urgh we should have seen the signs earlier :-)

The record for most knockdowns in one non-title bout (or any bout probably) had to be when Battling Nelson (one of the toughest boxers ever) was knocked down 7 times..... oh yeah his opponent Christy Williams was knocked down 42 times!! And they thought Nelson was tough. The fight ended in the 17th round with Nelson declared the winner by knockout

That means Williams was getting knocked down an average of a little more than 2 times per round. Pretty ridiculous. What year did that fight happen?

                - Marvin Hagler's only official knockdown came against Juan Roldan. It is believed by many to only have been a slip or a pull down.

If the great Featherweight champion Sandy Saddler and Rocky Marciano
where to fight, Saddler would have a 2 inch reach advantage, 70 inches
to Marciano's 68. by the way Marciano had the shortest reach of any
                  Heavyweight champ

He might have a lot of trouble in today's HW age of the dinosaurs with his stubby arms.

                    - Oscar De La Hoya released his first album on EMI/Latin Records. It was named "Oscar" and was successful. The album topped Billboard's Latin Dance charts for several weeks and "Ven a Mi," a single from the album was nominated for a Grammy.
