Cotto refused to follow standard protocol and pay sanctioning fees to the WBC for this weekend's WBC title. Cotto paid 800K to Golovkin just so he wouldn't have to fight him and then he thought he shouldn't have to pay the WBC another 300K for the sanctioning fees for the fight with Canelo. Cotto tried negotiating a lower price and the WBC refused and gave him extensions (diva lol) so they stripped him finally

      • Wait, one sec.

Didnt the Cotto stans keep talking about how Cotto would lure Mayweather back to fight for the lineal MW title against Cotto?

A potential megafight where Mayweather would fight for a title in his sixth weight classs?

        How times change huh?

So basically he told the WBC that he will duck GGG, good move by the WBC then.

If Cotto wants to call himself, Four Division Champ, should he fight at said division weight.

He wanted to make history without actually doing the act of making history.

            That speaks for itself.

This move should not surprise anyone. Cotto has said he has 1 more year left in Boxing. Why pay a fee for a belt you already won? History was already made. He still holds the lineal title.

He is at the stage of his career where he can dictate things, he has been through the fire. Cashing out on a risky fight should not be held against him, GGG lovers will never understand this because there fighter does not take the risk Cotto has taken.

Moving up in weight is not a option for lil g or moving down. Those are the biggest challenges for him.

Cotto could have ducked Canelo and taken the Floyd route for this fight. He didn't people that glorify GGG are acting as if Cotto is fighting Andre Berto on Nov 21. He is fight Canelo Alverez a fighter that is better than any fighter GGG has ever faced. Shane Mosley is better than and fighter GGG has ever faced.

Ward waited for GGG, to only get told what Cotto told GGG. He was not worth the money risk. So setting a double standard is pretty funny here.
His promotional company stuck their foot in there mouth by saying he could beat anyone from 154-168, then keep him stagnant at 160.

No one cares what belt is on the line Saturday. It's about 2 warriors going at it. Mexico vs Puerto Rico.

GGG is irrelevant come Saturday night.
Sure he is, that's why almost every article about this fight mentions GGG's name.

GGG hangs over this fight like the boogie man.

I don't know if it is a rule but he refused to fight a guy that weighed in at 160

Not to sure about that. And not to sure Cotto doesn't get his money back if he did. GGG is not stepping aside for anything. Cotto is not the Champ so in turn he is not stepping aside.

Also if Cotto wins GGG is the champ by default. Trust me that 800k is coming back to Cotto if it has been paid.

Sorry but he did make history, that is in the books.

Sorry but GGG is not in on this event, he is not on the card.

they have no shame man. If cotto stays at middleweight they'll still consider him the lineal champ even though he's not fighting the number one guys, which is what being lineal is all about.
