not sure if Wilder is worth 40%..... Joshua is HUGE now

35% would get it done

So he wants to lock him into terms before his upcoming fight where the result may actually increase his bargaining power for the fight they're looking to negotiate?

He's just insulting people's intelligence at this point.

I appreciate I'm probably sounding borderline annoying with how much I say "there's two sides to this"

BUT

Hearn is very naive if he thinks that any substantive moves are going to be made regarding the deal at this point given that Wilder's numbers will have a significant bearing on his split for an AJ fight. Most likely Hearn just wants to make a point for PR reasons, but I think most people have lost interest in this PR battle by now and frankly just want to see the two sides get down to actual business.

This doesn't mean that Finkel shouldn't consent to the meeting, given the magnitude of this fight. Getting the two sides in a room together will move things along substantially, and it will only take a few hours out of Shelly's day. At times Finkel seems to be taking things very personally which could be an obstacle to negotiations. Cancelling the meeting when Hearn was in New York last time was absolutely ludicrous, even if Hearn was clearly being a dick. If the two sides are really serious about getting the fight made they really should be meeting in person or at least talking on the telephone/skype etc.

The phoney war continues

Unless you consider the obvious possibility that they negotiate factors other than the split, which could be decided later by reference to the Wilder/Fury numbers.

There is more to a fight contract than the fees.

If Parker got 32.5% with no fan base, Wilder is worth 40% with a US following and being known in the UK.

The personal meetings are generally left for the hard issues. At this stage, having been down the negotiations road before, I'd venture that the only trivial issue that will be hard is purse split and broadcast rights. Those are things that would be heavily dependent on the Wilder Fury results. What gets accomplished in a meeting other than having the ability to tell the public you had a meeting. Talks can be had without a face to face meeting.

Most fighter donít start negotiating their next fight when they have an upcoming fight with someone elite. Hearn has plenty of time to negotiate fight, but fought Povetkin. Depending on how well Wilder vs Fury does, negotiang now could be pointless. If they generate 500,000 buys that easily a 60-40 split. What if they generate more. A million buys, which I doubt, would make wilder the A side.

The problem with Hearn is he thinks wilder will win. No doubt in his mind wilder doesn't win. Problem is wilder might lose. We'll just have to wait and see
