How much time do you have to get ready? What's the scenario? If you're doing something like a white collar amateur fight you might only have a couple of months to go from complete novice to facing a guy in the ring. If that's the case forget weight training. You need to spend all your free time in a boxing gym.

Imo for a fight like that you should be focusing on throwing your jab/cross correctly, keeping a tight guard, basic balance/footwork, breathing right, sparring and doing a lot of high intensity interval training.

Keep it simple on fight night. Guys who try to do too much get confused and are easily overwhelmed by guys with a simple game plan and high aggression.
