  • Has modern day, Internet Pron helped reduce overall rape?

Think about it. Pron often gets portrayed as a negative and catches flak for all sorts of reasons. Whether it's contributing to creating serial killers (excuses) or the erosion of social skills, Rape etc,. But do we really have as much rape as we did back in days past?

There is no real credible data for rape statistics in centuries past and men were just as horny and needed quick release as they do in present day. I can't even imagine the days without Pron. Fapping without a good visual right in front of you, on a computer screen. But, did men even fap as much as we do today OR did they just go out and rape & pillage women whenever they felt like it. For every fap moment, one woman could've took the full brunt of it.

But not anymore. It really takes a certain kind of individual now to decide to go out and rape women (excluding the exceptional drunk-party rape or the College campus, military, jail rape where men are confined and on a curfew.) Due to technological progress, a potential (lazy) rapist is just a fingertip away from unloading his wrath and wiping it away, just like it never happened. And do it again and again and again with no harm done.

So one could argue that Pron actually benefits society as a whole rather hurt it.

Actually one of the ten general characteristics of serial killers is that they are intensely interested in sadomasochistic porn from a young age.

Exactly. The conventional thinking is that **** creates killers or rapists. That's why they're trying to ban fake-rape **** in the UK. But what if instead of not being able to look at fake rape online, the guy goes out and does it for real.

**** is not turning him into a rapist, it's actually preventing him from becoming a rapist. They've put the cart before the horse on this.

Maybe so. But did the sado porn help make them that way OR did just serve as confirmation bias.

As I said, it takes a really special kind of character now-a-days, to become a Serial Killer. They're the exception. Go back to centuries past and they were the norm. And probably had a crop of female slaves to take it out on if you really go far back in time.

Well, I can't go centuries back, but I can go decades back.

There have been 1,000s of serial killers, so it is impossible to do a comparison of how much serial murder there was in this or that era by trying to include them all. Therefore, I went to Wikipedia's List of Serial Killers by Number of Victims page to give us a rough ratio of killers prior to and after 1970. The page divides killer with less than 15 victims from those with more, and 15 or more victims sounds like as good criteria as any. There were 3 killers who had more than 15 victims and started killing before 1970 (Jane Toppan, Earle Nelson, and Patrick Kearney. There were 11 killers who had more than 15 victims and started killing during the 1970s (Randy Kraft, William Bonin, Juan Corona, Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, Dean Corll, Wayne Williams, Paul John Knowles, Robert Lee Yates, Jeffrey Dahmer, and Donald Harvey). I believe any other criteria would yield a similar result as it is known that there was an explosion in serial murder in the 70s. A line from The Killing of America goes "the 60s were known as the age of sex murder because sex killers began appearing every 5 years, but in the 70s they began appearing every 5 weeks".

If that ratio holds good for the total number of serial killers across America, and, again, I believe it would, serial murder almost quadrupled (366%) in a single decade.

America's population grew by less than 10% during that period, that explains 10% of it. The American divorce rate doubles every 2 decades or so, which might explain another 100%. You're still left with another 250%, however, and I don't think child abuse increase by that much in a couple of decades. If anything it probably decreased. The rise of feminism can be discounted too, because about half of the killers mentioned above are ****sexual.

The one thing we do know increased massively during the 70s was pronography. According to Wikipedia, the Golden Age of Pron denotes the late 1960s to the mid 1980s, exactly when serial murder exploded. If you go to wikipedia and search for 'pronographic movies by decade', you'll see there are 5 entries for the 1960s but 53 for the 1970s. Deep Throat, the 1st pron movie to gain mainstream success, came out in 1972. It was shown in theatres around America and celebrities were happy to be seen attending. Other classic pron titles that came out in the 70s were Behind the Green Door and Debbie Does Dallas. More important than the mere increase of pron movies, of course, was the widespread availability of it in the 70s.

Serial killers, like any serial sex offenders, are fantasy-driven criminals. It's hard to see how pronography wouldn't fuel that fantasy.

This thread was primarily about RAPE. The point being that even your average joe could start going on a raping spree if not for the easy access of Porn. It's a prevention tool. Fap, fap and you're done, and you don't have to risk years in prison.

Be as it may, as my opening post stated -- Porn being blamed for the existence of Serial Killers is just EXCUSES. It's the equivalent to blaming the existence of the animals you threw off of a building or tied to the back of your truck, before you became a serial killer. It's nonsense, if it wasn't Porn, it was going to be something else.

Raping is one thing, anyone could do it. Supposed regular people turn into rapists, turn to gay sex if locked up in prison for a long time, or get carried away and rape a chick at a party etc,. Serial killing is a whole new ball game.
