why are democrats so embarassed to be called liberal and socialist?
republicans are proud to be called conservative and capitalists.
They were so embarrassed by the term liberal that they reincarnated the (previously discredited) term progressive. Personally I think Obama is more fascist than socialist, but I can understand why some would think him that considering his "when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody" and (redistribution)
But yeah, I'm quite happy to be called a conservative or capitalist (as I am both.) Something I wrote earlier along the lines of this thread:
Shifting demographics dictate that Republicans need to bolster their appeal to minorities, but I suggest they do so by garnering the assistance of people like Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Suzanna Martinez, Tim Scott, Nikki Haley and Bobby Jindal to educate people on the benefits of a free market, less regulation, lower taxes and a smaller, more efficient federal government. And then quit nominating people who double the size of gov like George W Bush. But to think we can out pander the left is just foolishness and pushing policies (the way they do) that keep certain groups in poverty is simply immoral.

There's a reason why Republicans have been so unwilling to work with Obama over the past few years, and that reason is simply this : Republicans would rather see Obama fail than to see America succeed.
We rule the house so hopefully we will block him from getting anything done, the division in this country has not even started yet and i for one will fight with the right side.

Actually...even the Republicans stray away from the term "Capitalism" a lot of times.
Instead replacing it with softer words such as "free enterprise". Romney and his campaign tried it. It didn't work...sugar coating things with catchphrases like "Romney has a positive vision for America".
Next go around, we need a straight shooter. Someone articulate who can use common terminology to explain Capitalism and everything that pertains to it. Even the term "greed" has to be defended, instead of avoided...by using some common sense arguments on why "Greed is good", without it being associated to Gordon Gekko (who was a false stereotype creation of a communist sympathizing Oliver Stone btw). Like this for example:
All this monday morning quaterbacking about latino's, blacks and demographic changes winning Obama the election. But here it is in a nutshell:
How Barack Obama Secured the Most Important Voting Demographic: The Idiots
Common sense analysis. No race baiting analogies...nothing. The independent, non ideological "Idiot" voting block was up for grabs, and one campaign did a better job with the commercial ad's....in grabbing those "idiot" votes. And thus won the election.
Notice...he didn't just say that everyone is an idiot. BUt a tiny minority of idiots that decided the election.

Poor little thing. That kind of remark can only come from pathetic losers.
The tiny minority that he calls idiots are about 2,629,989 ...
