I tend to agree with most of Welter's post's in this thread, though not quite as strongly. The US does have one of, if not the highest murder rate of any developed nation largely due to it also having extremely high numbers of human killing weapons everywhere. It's to the extent that there is a validity in innocent people carrying guns because they can easily become prey if they don't, in some area's at least.
If that is the justification for someone carrying a gun and a reality, then that's very sad and clearly underlines cultural issues.
Hardly anyone in my locality has the capability to kill each other with such ease, and I'm pretty sure if they could a lot unfortunately, would in inevitably do so.
