This is why from a fighters perspective loyalty is a mugs game...they have a very short window to make life changing sums of money, he needs to rid the parasites from his neck.

Espinoza is heavy into that football show, inside the NFL. He knows better that actual viewers of a football game on Fox will stat tuned in for a boxing match. Instant ratings. Spence vs Bandu did 7M on NBC right after Olympic skiing

Wilder's loyalty is to PBC. PBC rewarded that loyalty by creating a bidding war between FOX and SHO. Wilder is now guaranteed a lot of money regardless of how many buys the PPV actually does and the pressure is on FOX to promote the PPV like crazy so they can make their money back.

The bottom line is Showtime doesn't have the same amount of dedication and commitment to the sport as Fox does who are new to the fight game and are very eager to feature Deontay Wilder on their network.

Moreover, Showtime lacks the proper amount of resources as well. They have a much smaller budget than the entire Fox network.

In addition, they overpaid for the Wilder/Breazeale fight which probably left them in the red to bid for this bout.

CBS reaches even more households than Fox.

The problem with Stephen Espinoza is that he overspent on Wilder's mandatory defense with Dominic Breazeale. It probably took nearly two thirds of Showtime's entire yearly budget to make that fight happen. In other words, Showtime has run out of money.

CBS hasn't aired a fight in years.

Fight is not ppv worthy....Older slower Ortiz will b easy work for Wilder. Showtime obviously knows they would lose $ on this one. Wilder cant carry a ppv on his own.....he need Fury, AJ, or Mexican Ruiz in the other corner!
