The Roman Empire took over most of Europe and their influence is still felt to this day, so yes, there's a connection.

It's a false pride. You cannot take pride in something you personally didn't achieve. And Ancient Egypt isn't even black history, but whatever.

I know for a fact that every group has had successful civilzations but I just what to hear your opinion on the question I posed above.

It's not a belief. I know for a fact there's very few blacks in North Africa. Maybe you aren't aware, but Maghrebis really don't like black folk, as is the case with Arabs.

I am not aware of any great black civilization that we can say without doubt originated with black people and reached its peak due to black people.

When we talk about ancient civilizations, I think most people are thinking BC, and a little over AD, but certainly nothing later than 500 AD. The closer we get to the present, the less mysteriousness there is, and so less people have less interest in it. This is why historians are obsessed with Egypt & Mesopotamian civilizations, because they date back to 3000 BC and it's almost like another world.
