The AFL is the second most watched league in the world with an average crowd of 40k. despite 10 teams residing in 1 city.

and just signed the the no1 TV sport per person deal in history with a $2.5billion deal in a country of around 20million.

          This is an AFL midfielder.

Not only does he have to cover 15 miles in a 2 hour game, but he has to jump and catch like a wide receiver, tackle like a linebacker, make decisions on the run like a TE, read the defense like a PG and kick with both feet on the run like a punter with the accuracy of a QB.

          The ultimate, pure, allround althete.

First sentence is clearly bollocks and at per capita ratings.

Just for clarity your second sentence is also bollocks.

UK TV rights for the Premier League: 3 years 5.14 billion pound or around 8 billion Aussie dollars.

AFL TV rights 2.5 billion Aussie dollars for 6 years.

                  Aussies 23 million.
                  Brits 64 million.

As you can see the Aussie deal is less per capita even though it is twice as long .

                  Nice try though .

I attended a couple AFL games in Australia. I can safely say I've never heard so much cursing at a sporting event. And that was from the women....

                    great game, though.

you can hit somebody infinitely harder with shoulder pads and a helmet on. if you don't understand that it is on you! objective studies have determined there is a far greater "impact" in american football. and of course you can, you know, hit somebody with pads and a helmet on and see for yourself.

football = hits. guys are knocked down.

rugby and aussie football = tackles. guys are dragged down.

                      huge, huge difference. huge. incomparable.

and at the per capita olympics in the thread. if you have to say that your country is "per capita" the best at anything you're a bunch of f#cking lumps. trinidad was the best olympic nation, per capita, last i checked. might be grenada or the bahamas at this stage. great, accomplished nations, those.
