They try to put a positive spin on things, and it's good he's still able to function somewhat normally. But damn that second coma really did take a lot out of him.

Props for the vid

Watched a bit of it and it crazy how different he now looks

Seems he’s made as good recovery as
could be expected under the circumstances and hopefully there’s no serious long term effects regarding his health and he can live a long life with no complications

The brains such a sensitive organ that can malfunction at any moment with even the slightest disruption causing permanent long term issues. Some boxers can spend their careers in endless wars and leave the sport with their faculties some what together , others will suffer permanent damage from only a few punches and be disabled for life or die

It’s fighters Like Blackwell who have the misfortune of suffering a serious brain injury that make You realize what the potential consequences of the sport are and how serious it can be and why even if your not a fan of a particular fighter you got to respect them for what they risk when they enter the ring

****ing hell. it seems like its a totally different person. whoever let him do competitive sparring 3 months after his life threatening coma needs to be arrested.

I believe it was HIS choice to spar again, nobody wanted him to do it.

He is clearly far from fully functional - really sad to see.

I question his personal judgement on deciding to spar, maybe his sparring partner should feel some responsibility as well (not his fault though).

Surely he had someone looking after him ffs? a carer or minder, or family member or close friend was SURELY looking after him.

People at the gym knew he was was in a life threatening coma months previous and no one said anything? It doesnt matter if it was his choice, even if Nick was begging, the sparring partner should of refused, at the VERY least should of play fought with him, like you would with a child. How you can be hitting someone in a 'competitive spar' knowing what he just went through is beyond me.

I know what you mean but...

A lot of gyms have that 'Alpha vibe' where nobody really wants to speak up and question a guys ability or health / condition etc.

Combine that with the fact that most boxers are not exactly known for their intelligence or judgement on issues like this.

It's a very sad outcome, entirely avoidable IMO.

Yeah, I question his judgement.

Unlike you who exists on a higher intellectual and metaphysical plane than the rest of us.

He made the decision, and it was the wrong one.
