Frampton vs Gonzalez Jr (a list of points):

-fight will be aired in primetime in the UK, likely on Sky Sports (Hearn/Haymon partnership).

-Frampton is a ways away from having a new mandatory challenger established for him, so fighting the IBF #13 fighter likely opens up things a touch more for him.

-El Paso, TX is a Texas border city, so having a Mexican fighter as the opponent likely peaks the local interest (in addition to the fans that are likely to travel with him).

-Bundrage(c) vs Charlo (a TX-based rising prospect), a fight that could head it's own bill, is the co-feature for the night.

-PBC has generally done a pretty good job of loading up their non-televised fight cards with showdowns that deliver value for the folks buying a ticket to the venue.

Frampton keeps winning fights, Haymon/Hearn hammer out the deal for the fight that everyone wants in the UK (Frampton-Quigg), and Frampton plies his trade around the world, with his home fans well in postion to follow his entire journey. [Odyssey Arena in Northern Ireland holds 12,000 seats, so not sure what you're referring to as huge]

unbelievable. Haymon is the absolute worst thing about the sport of boxing today. Yeah, it's nice that the fighters are getting paid, but the sport itself is a joke under his control.

And I guess after that he will sign Rigo in September, gets him a same type of tune up and then he will math him with the winner of Frampton vs LSC/Mares.
It would be good if this would come through.
Rigo is already 35 years old, fought nearly 500 fights as an amateur, and still has the Caribe Promotions forever contract to deal with (with Caribe Promotions bringing nothing but an open hand for their payday to the table).

Why would Haymon do a deal with Rigondeaux? He doesn't sell tickets, he's not that exciting to watch, he's not all that engaging a personality, even among the Spanish-speaking press, and he doesn't have all that much time left to change any of those things.

Haymon already works with Santa Cruz and Frampton, the two most exciting names at 122, while also having Russell Jr, Mares, Jhonny Gonzalez, Jesus Cuellar and Marvin Sonsoma at 126.

I fail, frankly, to see the need to sign Rigondeaux at this point, especially if he's expecting to get a massive money offer (which seems to be the issues after Frank Warren, Roc Nation, and Matchroom Sport all inquired into the asking price to sign Rigo).

Rigo is sitting out his current promotional contract and said "big things are coming" so he must have some kind of deal in place. Hopefully it's with Haymon because if he goes to Roc Nation, then he can kiss Frampton and Leo fights goodbye.

What do you mean "YES!"??? His next fight was supposed to be against a big name and instead is fighting an unknown! All these top guys do is talk about the other top fighters in their division and end up fighting crap instead. Rigo would give both his testicles to fight one of the top guys and they avoid him like the plague.

Isn't Frampton killing it across the pond? Why wouldn't you have this card in the UK in front of all the Frampton fans singing songs or whatever & **** as UK fans tend to do?

Maybe I'm missing something here (exclusive deal with UK channel for UK fights maybe idk), but PBC has shown a bit of confusion on fight locations before & the empty seats are proof.

Frampton just signed to Al Haymon and he's supposed to fight Rigondeaux in his debut fight in America? Be realistic. The same Rigo who said he's sitting out his contract so isn't fighting till after September anyway.....ok mate.

To build Frampton's name overseas in order to get him the bigger fights he wants?

PBC puts Dirrell vs DeGale in Boston but Frampton in Texas. It's just retard. They could build him like UFC do to McGregor.
