Vince S**** should be one of the greatest amateurs ever, given his resume it's weird he never fought in the olympics though, which probably takes him off the list of the top ones usually named.
Courage Tshabalala's career didn't live up too the hype of his 74-1 amateur career where he lost his first bout then won all the reest of his bouts by ko in the 1st round.
Not sure, Howard Davis maybe? I only hear about his amateur career and his Olympic gold medal, but not much about him as a pro. Does he count. I never hear him mentioned as any all time great.
no disrespect to those fighters, but they might have to be mentioned here:
Howard Davis
Mark Breland
By the way of the 6 people who beat Mayweather in the amateurs, only 2 had good pro careers (Martin Castillo [became world champion] and Augie Sanchez), which just tells us how different the amateurs are from the pros and also that a fighter needs a good promoter in the pros.
Heavyweight Jorge Luis Gonzalez, a Cuban defector with a strong amateur background. In the amateurs he beat Riddick Bowe and Lennox Lewis but as a pro did not fair so well.
shawn o sullivan was probly shot with all his wars with world class amateurs before turning pro. He now has brain issues due to boxing
Willie Dewitt quit with one loss to bert cooper and avenged his gold medal loss to henry tillman and retired. Willie became a successful lawyer after his pro boxing carreer.
