But when Manny fought them 1-2 years later, then they suddenly became formidable opponents! Was every fighter that Ali chose a formidable opponent? How about Tyson's opponents? What about Julio Cesar Chavez Sr.? Where's Merchant's criticism of Bob Arum? Does he have any blame in the state of boxing?
HBO, Top Rank, Conte, Hauser... these are the goons behind REAL boxing corruption, and it's sad Margaret Hauser's VADA has had its organization mouthed around. Surely, VADA, is not government funded, but since it's advent in 2011, and the people around advocating it, it's no surprise who really funds that organization. Of course anonymous and privatized investors can practically provide funds and not be disclosed.

Hauser is the Godfather at the moment for the BWAA. Do you think any brave boxing writer would challenge Hauser? Nobody in that outfit can write objectively. The same reason you will never find any writer for Ring Magazine openly criticize De La Hoya and his career. That's just the way it is. And the majority of outside sports journalism doesn't give a shıt about boxing because it's not properly regulated. So of course their opinions on the sport would be obvious and redundant. Then you have goons like Top Rank firing back at other sports critics for ''libel.''

    As always, seen miles away.

    49-0 baby!

"He knew what my next question was going to be. Why won't you fight Pacquiao". Larry Merchant is one of the biggest disgraces in boxing. He has hated and critized every top Black fighter over the last few decades.

        Let it go Merchant

Floyd doesn't care what you think and neither do most other fans. You're nothing more than an antagonist who has never competed at the collegiate or professional level in any thing. You got paid to talk about people who are actually fighting. You my friend are the biggest rip off in boxing because you have watched the sweet science for many years but really don't understand what it takes to fight another man. Not just Floyd but boxers in general have real heart and are real men to lace up. Their not boys or cowards but real men that have courage you'll never have.

I am not a big fan of Floyd's style, but why put him down after he is gone? Why didn't Larry say something before and try to save viewers some money? Could it be he was getting his cut of TMT, but now the gravey train is gone? Some people can't stand being ingratiated and bad mouth thier benefactors. They want to claim they made thier money with no help, only hard work, but Larry got rich off of those same fights he's putting down.

Can anyone name a sport other than boxing that gets reported the way this sport does? Constant degradation, hate, and disrespect leveled at the best fighter of the past 25 years, not just by fans, but by paid journalists, reporters, and broadcasters.

How can fans stand for such slanted reporting? It's biased propaganda. Literally a page out Nazi Germany's propaganda manual. It's disgusting!

              Mayweather's disgrace

Just a career long dud of exciting fights. Waits till he has some physical, contractual or age advantage and performs a dance routine. Shame on us for falling for that so many times.
I'd put Fraud at between 40-50 All time just for defensive ability..... And that's a gift

Merchant always up for a dig at Mayweather. The fans did keep coming back, Mayweather was obviously offering them something they wanted to pay for. This old fossil doesn't know what he's talking about.

Merchant doesn't know **** about boxing.

Next month he's going to be talking up Cotto vs Canelo as the greatest thing since sliced bread. Yet both of those guys LOST to the man who Larry says only picks opponents who have no chance.
