  • Wilder - "70000 People Look Good In A Small Country But You Make Money In America"

Deontay Wilder wants unification clash with Anthony Joshua to happen in his backyard: 70,000 people look good in a small country but you make money here in America... I'll be waiting

Deontay Wilder has issued a warning to rival Anthony Joshua that he would be reluctant to leave America for their potential super fight.

The WBC world champion spoke with the media as he attended Showtime's Championship Boxing Event on Wednesday evening.

Despite the pair's verbal melee being put on temporary mute with both facing opponents in March, they still look on a collision course for a summer showdown if they can get past their respective challengers.

Deontay Wilder wants his potential super fight with Anthony Joshua to happen in America

Wilder has given Luis Ortiz a second-crack at his WBC strap after the Cuban failed a drug tests the first time around while Joshua, who holds the IBF and WBA world titles, will face the WBO king Joseph Parker in a historic unification clash in Cardiff on March 31.

However, speaking at Showtime's annual event, the unbeaten American took the opportunity to reignite talks of fighting Joshua.

He's talking about the percentages in England and stuff like that. Bro, 70,000 people may look good in a small country, but you are not getting the money like you are over here just compared to 20,000,' Wilder said.

'You make your money here in America. The mega boxing is here in America, it always will be no matter what they are doing over there.'

While there is a semblance of truth to that, boxing in Britain is undeniably booming, too. But the 32-year-old from Alabama, who has knocked out 38 of his 39 opponents, has predicted a chilling end to that rise by knocking down its patron

Once I knock him (Joshua) out, all of that over there is going to go down and it will be no more,' Wilder added.

'So hey, choose your battles wisely, choose your places wisely. Where ever he feels like it is going to be comfortable for him, if he has the courage to beat me then so be it, I'll be there, I'll be waiting.'

If there's one thing Joshua can be credited for in his professional career is that he has not chosen wisely. Facing Dillian Whyte, someone who knocked him to the canvas and beat him as an amateur, in his 15th professional fight was venturesome.

And he almost paid the cost when Whyte wobbled him with a huge left hook in the second round. And then getting in the ring with Wladimir Klitschko, the best heavyweight for the past decade, after just two title defences against relatively feeble opposition.

Again, this paid off and spectacularly. Perhaps Wilder should consider that any risk the Brit has taken, so far, has paid off. Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn has often flirted with Joshua's introduction State side too, and so if this is nothing more than just empty propaganda, he could be made to regret it.

Before these two can talk of a super fight they must extend their unbeaten records. Wilder will do so first on March 3 against the highly-rated Ortiz.

Deontay Wilder here, heavyweight champion of the world. March the third as you know, or if you don't know Match the third will be me vs Luis Ortiz at the Barclay centre on Showtime,' he said.

'Be there, you don't want to miss it, it's going to be a lovely evening, we got a lot of great fighters on the card, it's going to be an explosive fight.

'I'm just so excited to be here at this event with all these fighters, among some of the best in the world with multiple champions and titles and we just living life right now.

'We excited and we can't wait to bring you more fights this year, this is going to be a mad year and I can't wait to deliver the knockouts that I always do 39 and 0 with 38 KOs looking for 40 and 0 with 39 KOs.

'here we go baby, I can't wait, Bombsquad. I'll see all you guys soon.'

Someone should ask him how 10000 in a big country looks in comparison.

Wilder's clearly under instruction to mention Joshua at every opportunity to try and trade on AJs greater profile. Unfortunately this does result in some absolute rubbish being spoken, the interview above being a good example. 70,000 people look like 70,000 people whatever country they're in. The gates in AJs fights look far bigger than Wilder's for a reason, because they are. One can assert that the big money is in US boxing, but if, like Wilder, you're not actually earning that money then it's apparent that it's an empty boast.

Here's an idea however, instead of coming out with more of this rubbish to satisfy half wits and simpletons, why doesn't Wilder's team get talking to MGM grand, get the US PPV guys on board, sit down with some spreadsheets demonstrating how big a draw their guy is, how massively oversubscribed tickets for his events Re, how massive the ratings for his fights, how intense the broader engagement of the US public is as demonstrated in his social platforms or coverage in Global media platforms. Then translate that into a figure that Hearns team can work with.

Everyone understands the language of numbers. So turn this incessant talk into something that gets the casinos and us networks to back him with cash. AJ would love to do the Vegas mega fight, his global sponsors would love it too, he just needs to know that there some substance behind the endless talk.

Why don't you go do the negotiating since you're such an expert. Joshua is running period. Trying to cash in on the "idea" of a fight with Wilder. Same **** Arum used to pull everytime Pac fought. Always bringing up Floyd's name to sell fights. Everyone knows the real money is made over here in the US. Hearn knows Joshua would get his head torn off by Wilder lol. He is just trying to keep playing games until his hand is forced. All these ***** ass fighters cherry picking to get paid. Boxing is some **** now. LOL

Yeah I see this video. How comes hes not making mega money right now then? Said the fight will make 3 times the amount of money over there. How did he come up with those calculations? Yeah if theyre both established stars in the US, then you can talk about that kind of money, but they aint.
