    So Floyd gets no credit because of that

      First of all, Canelo won that title at a catchweight of 150lbs, so not being able to make 152lbs is lame AF excuse.

      Secondly, Canelo's team are the ones who asked for the catchweight, so the excuse of 'mayweather drained him' is false AF.

      Thirdly, drained or not, Canelo fought a guy who couldn't even make the catchweight, Mayweather weighed in at 150.5lbs at the official weigh in and 150lbs on the unofficial weigh in. Canelo weighed 152lbs on the official weigh in and 165lbs on the unofficial weigh in.

      There was a 15lbs difference between him and his opponent on fight night. Think about that before you come up with any more weight related excuses.

      Canelo was 23 years old when he fought Mayweather, but did you know he had only 4 less professional fights than Mayweather when they fought and had beaten Austin Trout, who beat Cotto prior?

      Think about that too before you make any 'he was green' excuses.

        You get the credit for the version you beat, not what they go on to become.
        Thats not how history typically works though and somestime it is right imo and sometimes not. I gotta roll with history this time.

            Casual fans might think that but those who know and understand boxing will remember the asterisks, like the catchweight that depleted Canelo.

            So Canelo will have to get a rematch with Floyd, if he manages to wins in Sept., to erase that blemish.

                    So you already shot down everyone's argument in the opening post of your thread with obvious reasons why it is BS to begin with, nice going. Pointless cheerleading thread, as if there aren't enough of those to go around. Why do so many Floyd fans have these inferiority complexes and feel compelled to defend him at all costs? You're in love with a snake oil salesman who underachieved, just own it.

                      That is why you see Floyd talk favorably about Canelo since that fight. Most of Floyd's fights after ODL don't look that great in hindsight. Guys like Maidana, Ortiz, Guerrero, Berto and others are mere footnotes in boxing history. He waited years after Pac got KTFO to fight him.
                      Canelo was a guy he fought too early. It could end up being looked at as his best win years from now.
