  • Steve Bunce reckons Toney is overrated...

Bunce says that if you are honest with Toneys record it's not very good, he said that Toney only had a couple of good years at middleweight before he lost to roy jones, and hasnt done anything worthy of merit since then other than beat a shot holyfield.

    do you agree?

He may be overrated now in that some people still think he's able to beat the top heavyweights, when the reality is that he's not had an impressive performance for quite some time.

But at his best I think he really was a great fighter. His career did fall off somewhat after the Jones loss, but before that he was a great fighter at 160-168, and years later he brought it back in a big way by beating Jirov, who was a very very good fighter. Throw in the win over Holyfield and the wins some feel he should've had over Rahman and Peter and you have a very impressive late-career resurgence for what was essentially a fat middleweight.

A lot of boxers talk about wanting to fight the best and having no fear. Toney is one of the few who actually meant it and proved that he meant it.
