  • Shortest HW Championship Fight?

I just watched a youtube doc on Louis-Schmeling II and it claimed the 2:04 KO was the second shortest in HW championship fight in history.

Does anyone know what HW championship fight was shorter?

I have a book which apparently states the shortest fight in each division.

It has Herbie Hide Vs Damon Reed at 52 seconds for the WBO title
Lamon Brewster Vs Andrew Golota at 52 seconds for the WBO title

James J Jeffries vs Jack Finnegan at 55 seconds in 1900 for the heavyweight title.

Dont know how accurate the book is tho.

          Pretty accurate. Good selection!

Thank you - I think it was the Jeffries fight they were referring to. I wasn't sure if they meant 'up to that time' (1938) or not. I realized the Tyson-Spinks fight was quicker but for the life of me I couldn't come up with something before 1938. I have never heard of Jack Finnegan.

Brewster Golota - for the WBO title - was 52 seconds.
