a beating in a boxing match can go up to 12 rounds if you can last that long. an MMA fight can be a maximum of 15-25 minutes, with almost every fight [under UFC rules ayway] being of the 15 minute variety.

Exactly this ^^^

Also, one basic fact people are also missing out here is, gloves is not always to protect your opponent but its also to protect your hands.. Hitting a skull/ribs can fracture your hand & how many have we seen during & post fight hand injuries/fractures..

But MMA fighters do die in the ring.

As far as brain damage, boxing has been around for 100+ years, which means fighters have been observed their entires lives. MMA on the other hand has been around for a decade or 2, who knows what will happen to those guys in the long term

Oh really? It's that simple is it? That's horse****. There is a theory that a sustained beating can be more dangerous when it comes to head trauma, but that's it. If you think that repeated concussions and getting knocked out time after time is a safer alternative then you're a fool. Brain damage is totally unpredictable. A person can get punched once, knocked out, and end up in a coma from that. It happens.

How can you possibly affirm that MMA fighters won't also suffer from pugilistic dementia? MMA has only been around for about 20 years. Let's see how sharp some of these guys are when they're 50 and 60 years old. Go listen to Chuck Liddell and tell me he doesn't sound punchy already. He didn't take a sustained beating, but he did get knocked out a bunch of times.

If boxers wore 4oz gloves, somebody would be getting knocked out almost every fight. No, not stopped by a referee, knocked out. Amir Khan would probably be dead by now.

Deontay Wilder hitting another man on the jaw with a 4-oz glove is liable to kill someone, full stop.
