For years, a lot of tour cyclists used to set alarms for the middle of the night to interrupt their sleep and to kick-start their circulation with a half hour on the exercise bike.

Im not an expert but at college (16-18 so high school age in America) we learnt that this happens when people blood dope, or use EPO, so it would figure that the same negative side affects would be present here. Though probably no where near as bad
So this simulates some of the effects of EPO? I'd imagine on a lower scale as mentioned but I wonder how detrimental it could be since boxers, unlike many athletes really only train periodically (when a fight is coming up). So in essence they'd be cycling such a method I assume?

From the sounds of it (could be my ignorance speaking here) then this is just a form of simulating high altitude training? In ehich case this isnt rare at all but I'm curious to know if there's a difference when actually living in high altitude and training as opposed to just training in a simulated environment. Seems like it'd be harsh on the heart going from "high" to "low" off and on all the time as opposed to acclimating your body over a period of time... Could be wrong, just trying to make sense of it from what I do know/common sense.
