Dwyer has a term that is useful here:
An ambush fighter. haye is another great example. He will attack from the other side of the ring. These punches allow one to jump in from a distance and suprise the opponent. most guys who are succesful have good foot speed in so doing the punch.

There actually was a fighter in the late 40s and 50s named Jumping Joe Barone.
He was known for his crazy jump punches.
This is the only known photo of him in the act.

Here's a brief YouTube clip of him attempting a jump punch in the 1946 Golden Gloves..

- -Popkins in the first Dawson fight getting carved up. Suddenly he jumps in with a flying knee that failed when Chad bent over to stop him, so poppy drapes over him and Chad shrugs him off as poppy now takes flight to half land on the Ring apron where he bursts into tears like he did in the first Allen fight when lil Banty Mills in breaking up a clinch amazingly sends poppy flying 15' to land on the concrete floor where he bursts into tears. Cali Ref rules tko, , but Oscar got that overturned to NC

Captain James T. Kirk did a double fisted, open-palmed ear smash that was hella painful for multiple species.
