This is like a Shakespearean tragedy that just keeps on getting worse and worse.

          • I don't think Johnstons Tories give a toss about surviving this. A hard exit is their goal, it's just a cash grab for these charlatans and any opportunity to protect their offshore funds will be taken.

Johnstons behaviour shows that he has absolutely no intention of anything other than a hard exit, regardless of the opinion of the majority of Parliament.

            • The consequences of no deal for the UK are so serious that I don't see they are able to have no deal.

What they are telling the public is not reality!

EU markets would be progressively restricted to the UK the longer no deal was. This would be catastrophic.

If you are Airbus, for example, or any car manufacturers facing tariffs and delays why would you retain any plants in the UK!?

              It would be a disaster.

                • Looks like Britain will leave the European Union this Friday. Congrats, Brits!

                  • The UK should be run by the democracy in the UK, not by unelected bureaucrats in Brussels.

Hopefully we can now take control of our borders and stop getting exploited by the EU

Yeah. This post ^^^^^^ perfectly illustrates what it is we have here. It's about sentiment and feelings. That's the driver for Brexit.

The fact that its going to cost a gigantic amount of money for the UK (and the EU) is second (at most) in priority.

                      Let me illustrate:

Today EU trade regulations is implemented in the UK and UK companies follow them. All goods is approved for the EU market and no border controls are needed.

Now britain wants to have it's own rules according to the UK secratery of finance. These rules will differ from EU rules.

This will mean that (for example) medication sold in the UK is to be tested in one way and another way if they are to be sold in the EU. So medical companies will have to do 2 sets of testing instead of 1. That costs money and takes time. It can be any industry; medical, cars, chemicals etc.
