People don't understand what the boxing Hall of Fame is. We can argue what the criteria should be, but it's clear that the HOF is just a way to celebrate people who brought interest to the sport and to honor their contributions. You don't have to be an all-time great to be a part of it.
Trainers, referees, commentators, announcers and Sylvester Stallone are eligible for the Hall of Fame because they contributed to the sport in other ways besides fighting.
Gatti was a popular fighter who brought excitement to boxing and deserves that recognition. There are a lot more talented and deserving boxers who should be in the HOF, but that doesn't mean Gatti shouldn't be in it.
