  • Felix Sturm vs. Sam Soliman on Feb 2 in Germany

    http://www.***************.net/2012/...-sturm-on.html

After coming through a successful IBF middleweight title eliminator against Giovanni Lorenzo in August, former Contender star Sam Soliman could have been forgiven for expecting a shot at fellow-Aussie Daniel Geale sometime this year.

As it turns out, ‘King’ Soloman was pipped to the post by compatriot Anthony Mundine and has now been forced to forge a new path to a world title shot, rather than waiting around to face the winner of the IBF contest.

The path chosen by the 39 year-old is a clash against former WBA title hoarder Felix Sturm on February 2 in Germany, after which, the 53-fight veteran is hopeful of snagging a chance of an all-Australian title bout.

"The stakes are incredibly high, as is the challenge,'' Soliman told dailytelegraph.com.au.

"I am going to Germany on a mission, to beat Felix Sturm. I have no control over what happens in the other fight.''

Soliman could either face the Geale v Mundine victor or more likely, face the WBA champion who emerges from the December 8 title bout between Brian Magee and Mikkel Kessler in what would certainly be the Melbourne fighter’s last chance to become world champion.
