They are making a proper League like the NFL.

They basically had "100 representatives from 52 regions of the country" come together and decide on where MMA should go, these representatives would include owners of regional promotions (Vadim and M-1 is just one such representative).

FILA has always set up a similar thing in other countries and have gone to oversee this new Russian League.

This is the beginning of a proper sport with a proper governing body and a proper league with proper and universal ruleset.

This was what the UFC avoided with WAMMA, the problem for UFC is that FILA is an old hand at this and arent one to be bullied around by a regional promotion like the UFC.

I can imagine MMA being allowed in as an Olympic sport. FILA already overseas wrestling and other sports.

FILA is one of the most corrupt organisations in all of sports. Just look at how olympic wrestling has deteriorated and is filled with corruption.

And how is a "league like nfl" different from UFC? Because there will be more owners? IT's still a closed league where the owners make the decisions. Just like the ufc.

that doesn't make sense. NFL is a business more than it is a "League". Other than the fact that its separated into Teams, all else is the same.

So if you're saying that MMA organizations are gonna be coming together to form a league(not sure if thats what you mean) than I think that is insanity. Not gonna work.

MMA can't be compared to other sports like Soccer, Basketball, Football...... cuz it isn't a team sport. Unless you look at each team in those sports as a single entity, just as each fighter is his own single entity in MMA. But you don't have groups of fighters getting together to face another group of fighters. That wouldn't make sense.

UFC's business model isn't perfect either(if they want to officially be a worldwide sport). They need to divide their current organization into continents if they truley want to succeed as a world sport. ex: have a euro champ, south american champ, NA champ, Asian champ.

Besides that, UFC's business model is fine.

Seems to me like it's a union, for working together and what not, not so much a regulatory body or a league. But it's hard to tell from the one article.

The world cup should be amazing.

It should spur on the further development of MMA in Russia and many other countries, which have a tremendous amount of potential talent. The combative sports in many of these countries is very high level.
