I feel like butthurt, beta and several other common internet phrases have been part of the American vernacular for years now. Maybe in 2008 people wouldn't understand using one of those phrases.

The other day I was with some friends and we were just hanging out, having a few beers just talking and I said "fuggen beta" and they were like "Did you just say beta?". I was like "oh yeah that's an inside joke my bad". Awkward...
