Rios' reaction to Manny looking sharp in training

During the first part of my interview with Brandon Rios, the former lightweight titlist expressed his shock at seeing how his former foe Mike Alvarado was dismantled this past weekend at the hands of Ruslan Provodnikov.
As the dialogue continued, the conversation focused on Rios’ own personal battle, as he is set to face off with Filipino star Manny Pacquiao on Nov. 23 in Macau, China in an HBO pay per view clash.
Read below for comments from Rios on the early reports coming from Pacquiao’s camp, his disdain towards HBO analyst Max Kellerman, why he believes that it is his critics who serve as the fuel to his fire, and much more.
This is what Rios had to share.
Feeling ready to fight…
“I feel good. No emotion at all. I feel good, like myself, as always. I’m always ready to fight. There’s no emotion at all. I’m not scared, I’m not excited; I’m ready to fight. To me, it’s just another opponent in front of me. Just because he has a big name, that don’t mean **** to me.”
Why he never looked at Pacquiao as a potential opponent in the past…
“You know what? Honestly, no. Honestly, back then, when I was a lightweight champ, and when he was dominating, I’ll admit it right now, I said at that time if we ever fought, Pacquiao would **** me up. At that time I said that. I think he’s getting older. I’m young and I got more experience, more knowledge now. I think it’s the opposite now. I think I can take him out.”
The reports coming from General Santos City in the Philippines that claim Pacquiao is looking sharp in training…
“That’s good. That means we got a fight going on. If he looks good and if he looks great against his sparring partners, that’s good. That means we got a fight going on. But there’s one thing I’ve got to tell him and Michael [Koncz], that mother*cker, he’s the who’s talking ****. I don’t give a **** about Michael Koncz. I aint no sparring partner. I don’t give a **** how you look against sparring partners. You can look great against sparring partners. But you’re not going to fight a sparring partner. You’re fighting me. And I aint no sparring partner. At the end of the day, that’s good. I hope he’s doing good, so we can have a great fight and give the fans what they want.”
Coming with a great game plan…
“I do everything. I don’t go for head only. I go for body shots, head shots, I mix it all up. I’m not really worried. Like I say, we’re coming with a great game plan. Robert has a good game plan. His Dad has a great game plan. I’ve been following it in the gym and executing the game plan very well. We’ll be ready.”
Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach claiming that the only man he is worried about on Team Rios is Eduardo Garcia…
“That’s good; he should be worried about him. But not only him, but he should be worried about me. Pacquiao is fighting me and he’s not fighting no ****ing joke. Everybody thinks that I’m a pushover, I’m a punching bag, I’m a tune-up fight. I aint nobody’s tune-up fight and if Freddie Roach thinks that, he’s got something else coming to him. I’m going to show the world, man. I don’t know what else to say. I’m going to show the world and I’m going to show Freddie Roach that I’m no tune-up fight.”
Sounding off on HBO analyst Max Kellerman…
“Max Kellerman thinks that too, so **** that mother*cker. He’s always talking ****, always hanging in my face ‘Brandon, you are this and that.’ **** that fool. He’s a ****ing pretender. I don’t give a **** if HBO makes you say **** or not. You don’t say ****. Nobody makes me say **** but me. At the end of the day, that’s bull****. They’re counting me out, man. Everybody’s going to find out. November 23, don’t count this mother*cker out. Because he’s a rock solid mother****er and he comes to fight. He comes with his balls out and he’s ready.”
Liking when people count him out…
“All those mother*ckers, everybody is counting me out. But at the end of the day, you know what? I like when they count me out. I’m going to show these mother*ckers, don’t ever count me out. Once you count me out, you’ve ****ed up yourself. That drives me more, that makes me more hungry. Freddie Roach is counting me out, Pacquiao is counting me out, some of the HBO people are counting me out. Max Kellerman’s counting me out. A lot of people are counting me out. At the end of the day they’re going to bite their own words and I’m going to tell them ‘**** you. Don’t try to kiss my *ss now mother*ckers.’”
His main source of motivation…
“You want to know what motivates me? The mother*ckers out there. The critics. Everybody that’s counting me out already. Before the fight, they’re already counting me out. Before the fight was made, they count me out. That’s b*ll**** to me. That makes my motivation go up even higher and makes me train even harder. I want to prove everybody wrong and I want to show the world. I’m nobody’s tune-up fight. I’m a warrior. I come to fight and I lay it all in the ring.”
Wanting to shut everybody up…
“Just all the critics. ****ing everybody. Dan Rafael. Max Kellerman now. Some dude from Yahoo!, Kevin Iole. I’ll point them out, too. I did that in my last fight, when I fought Alvarado. I pointed each one of them mother*ckers out. I’ll do it again. Because, when you lose, everybody starts counting you out. But when you win, ‘Ah, man, you’re the man. You’re the best.’ Don’t be a pretender. I aint no joke and I’m going to speak with my mind, whatever comes out. That’s what motivates me more. I want to shut everybody up. I want to shut up all these critics up.”
