This rarely happens and absolutely did not happen when Pacquaio beat Bradley.

How can a guy coming off a loss fight for a vacant Lineage? That is the definition of illogical.

going by what you are sayin, how was margo vs cotto for the lineal then when paul williams at that time was also considered number 2 by some?....or do you not consider that fight for the lineal?

The Ring magazine specifically asks retiring boxers if they are truly going to retire afaik. So, they can declare that lineal belt vacant. They did that, as I recall, on Aaron Pryor when he first retired .

Floyd doesn't get to hold that lineal forever.
Mayweather is lineal until he loses or retires for good. The RING magazine has their own system and have already acknowledged that their belt does not always represent who the lineal champion is (e.g. Fury at HW, Oleksandr Gvozdyk at light heavyweight):

"We deeply regret separating from the lineal championship and we would hope that fans appreciate our reasons for giving Tyson every opportunity over the past two years. We wish our former champion the very best for the future and we will be happy to re-rank him when appropriate." (ringtv link)

        WRONG!

the lineal stopped and was vacated by tito trinidad after he went above the division and was later resumed by the winner of shane vs delahoya 1

like some poster here already said, floyd cannot hold that lineal title forever that he won from baldomir anyways

Trinidad got too big for the division and vacated. Mayweather hopped between 147 and 154 after he beat Baldomir and never relinquished the mythical title. Big difference. And he won't hold that title forever. He'll only hold it until he loses or retires for good.

You have 4 major bodies with different interests.

Guy coming off a loss gets to fight for the lineal if he was number two and the lineal retired.

Should we argue Tommy Morrison really did not beat Foreman for the lineal title ?
            That IS the case.

Tommy Morrison was never Lineal Champion.

Why didn't you reply to my post on your Puga account?

Anyway, that one is a prime example of a hotly debated topic.

Many considered Margarito-Cotto for the Lineage but also MANY didnt. Because Williams was #2 however he had recently moved up in weight but still open to a return to 147.

So that example right there proves my point if anything.

And Cotto and Margarito fighting for the new Lineage was way more logical than Pacquaio and Bradley fighting for the Lineage.

you said there's no such thing as a lineal champion outside of heavyweight. bernard hopkins was the lineal champion in two weight classes. he was one of the best middleweights ever and the lineage at the weight, from he, to taylor, to pavlik, to martinez, was as legitimate as they come. a great fighter, losing to very good younger fighters, and the lineage carrying on because they are all willing to fight. then you had cotto win the belt and hold it hostage by not fighting gennady golovkin, and canelo doing teh same and creating the 155 lb weight class, until golovkin got old.

you can't just say dumb **** and expect to not get corrected. furthermore, when you go into another thread typing out a diatribe without literally looking at the website of the organization in question to realize tat you are wrong you will get a reputation as a blowhard and an idiot. so here we are.

enjoy the rest of your time here.
