  • From bad to worse. Fighters starting to question if Hearn is the right move

The part nobody is talking about is how fighters are going to look at Hearn after what happened last weekend. They know promoters are going up look out for their own best interest but hiding failed drug tests from another fighter is something way outside the norm and not one fighter (besides Whyte) thinks that was the right thing to do regardless of any so called process

Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn told ESPN that he is no longer in talks for a deal with featherweight titlist Gary Russell Jr. (30-1, 18 KOs). Hearn lauded Russell’s talent but questioned his comittment to fighting more than once a year as he has been doing. Hearn also said that although he continues to stay in touch with Mikey Garcia (39-1, 30 KOs) and hopes to sign him he doesn't believe a deal is imminent. “We’ve been talking for a year,” Hearn said. “There’s nothing new.” Garcia, a former four-division titlist, is coming off a shutout loss to Errol Spence Jr., whom he jumped up two divisions to challenge for a welterweight belt in March.

Yea, you don't need a PhD to figure out that not stopping a suspected fighter from fighting defeats the very point of doing any darn testing in the first place. And the one benefiting from this ass backwards protocol is none other than Hearn. smh

Did Hearn think GRJ wanted to fight three times a year or something? It's already known that GRJ fights his one fight per year schedule because that's what he wants to do. Same with how Thurman would fight once a year.

But I just think GRJ probably has been promised the LSC or Tank showdown next so he stayed put.

As for Mikey? The move to DAZN didn't make sense unless it was just him getting a crazy sum money to fight inferior competition. Prograis nor Taylor have DAZN deals yet so it's not like he couldn't get either fight on another network. I bet Mikey ends up getting the DSG fight after all.

Hope Hearn has his licence stripped for his blatant lack of concern for the rules and norms of boxing. Already knew he was scum but this was a new low. Prison time isn't beyond him.

I think not telling the other fighter is the biggest problem. Whyte was cleared to fight by that kangaroo court. But the decision not to tell the other fighter is the problem. Idc what Hearn says about the process and all that BS. Rivas should've been informed. Cleared to fight by a kangaroo court doesn't mean he didn't test positive for a PED.

And to think; The Limeys on here think Ruiz should go to the UK to fight Joshua. Yeah right! Not after hearing this news.

GRJ? Sure, but Mikey? No, he was inactive for one stretch during his legal situation with TR. Aside from that, he actually fights multiple times a year.
