Fury is trash
I'm sure ESPN will find a way to get out of that deal.

An investment is the right way to look at Fury/Schwartz.

I'm sure Arum knew that the event itself was going to cost him money. But after the event, footage of Fury's ring walk, and him slipping salvos of punches on the ropes without getting touched, went viral on the internet and got a lot attention in the mainstream media.

That's going to pay dividends going forward. I'm expecting Fury's next fight in the US to be against a live opponent and that it will sell very well indeed.
You're spot on! It was an investment, and if Fury does fight Miller at MSG, the investment will pay off! Wilder was pissed when Fury walked on the rematch, but now he sees what Arum was doing (marinating) and he's in love with idea too! However, I think it's very risky, because who knows what could happen in Wilder vs. Ortiz II, or Fury vs. Miller? Just ask Eddie Hearn!

The hell are you talking about? Money IS in America right now. Why do you think Joshua, Fury and damn near every other big name Brit is fighting in the states? You are confusing gate revenue to the money being thrown around by networks.

Arum is just bigging his fighter up. Fury was never going to sell out the venue against a complete unknown, but this is a long term deal and investment. Maybe ESPN did overpay Fury, in which case, more fool them, I don't give a fuk, it's not my money.

Regardless of the financials, it doesn't stop Fury from being a great fighter. I care about the fights, not the cash.

Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin bring in boxing's third-highest gate

The Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin middleweight world championship fight, an action-packed battle that ended in a controversial split draw on Sept. 16 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, was a smash hit at the gate.

The fight generated $27,059,850 from 17,318 tickets sold, according to figures released Tuesday by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. There were 934 complimentary tickets given out, according to the commission.

The live gate is the third biggest in boxing history, trailing two other megafights in Las Vegas.

The all-time record was set by the May 2, 2015 welterweight world title unification fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, which generated a stunning $72,198,500 from the sale of 16,219 tickets at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

No. 2 is a fight that took place just three weeks before Canelo-GGG and in the same arena: Mayweather-Conor McGregor. That junior middleweight bout, in which Mayweather exited a two-year retirement and knocked out the UFC star in the 10th round of his professional boxing debut on Aug. 26, banked $55,414,865.79 from 13,094 tickets sold.

Fury vs. Schwarz is garbage! We knew that, which is why it was a flop, unlike the other examples shown above! Yes, many of us are fat...just like Andy Ruiz! How's Joshua doing? Tell him we all said hello, and hope he's recovering well from that azz whooping! We hope he comes back soon!

Fury has a long way to go to setting America on fire. He'll need a bigger Uncle Sam hat next time.
They will have to stick to bottom top 30 fighters for him to be exciting(scoring KOs).Fury makes Wlad look like Gatti at least with Wlad you had a chance you would see a KO against a top fighter. I like tech good fighters, but most casuals don't and they need them to make him any kind of star esp at heavy.

So essentially only two of the biggest fights off all time surpass what Joshua and fury could be making on a regular basis in the home of boxing?

I just don’t see the American market being swept by Fury mania
Heard a lot of casuals complaining about him , first the opponent and secondly his gimmick ( ring walk , the singing )
American public are very hard to be swayed
The Bobfather has a tough task at hand
