Ok, we know the fight was stopped due to the cut (which looked like nothing IMO) but it was caused by a headbutt which is illegal. Why did they announce hughes as the "winner"? I would think that cutting someone with an illegal move should be ruled No Contest rather than a WIN. what are your guys opinions on this?

It WASN'T stopped by a cut.
Gil said he couldn't see out of one of his eyes. Thats why the fight was stopped.
And no, it shouldn't be a no contest because it wasn't on purpose. If something happens in the heat of the moment, too bad. Its like in boxing where a head butt causes a cut and the fighter can't go on. They go to the scorecards after a set number of rounds. You really can't do that in MMA because there is only 3 rounds, but if its a accident they shouldn't punish the fighter ESPICALLY if he won the round. Like Hughes did -
