Anyone just consider the fact that Ali was trying to get under Frazier's skin? Make him mad and get in his head. Ali did the same thing to Liston, Shavers and many other opponents.

big difference between Floyd and Ali, Ali talked shiz about his OPPONENT to hype up the fight, Floyd just racially taunted guys who he hated and never had intention of fighting.

Big difference is floyd hasn't demean a black man during the civil rights era nor has he called them monkeys or gorillas. Ali did this, and to a man who basically provided for him like a father at one point. Your post is way off base. Ali is a scumbag, floyd was hyping the fights. If you dont think that ali was a scumbag, just see how he abandoned malcolm x after the NOI abandoned malcolm.

Pictures were taken.. Proof was there. Islam threatened Ali but Ali stick with Malcolm .When X died.. everyone saw Ali crying and he was extremely emotional. He knew who did it too and he wanted to go kill those murderers but Bundini held on to him and said no Muhammad think about the greater good. Muhammad was so enraged because guys like Terrell will call him Clay. Joe always called him Clay and Muhammad was mad cuz of that.
This guy has been watching a lot of Will Smith...
First if all Ali stuck with the "Nation" for many years after the death of Malcolm X.
Don't believe everything you see in a movie!

You guys are crazy! Ali was trying to sell the fight (look how big and significant those fights were and look how much money they each made, it was unprecedented at the time). Frazier called him Clay all the time as well AND no offence to the great Joe Frazier but he wasn't as savvy with the media as Ali was. He didn't understand how to market himself and he took everything too personally, most of us intelligent fans know that Ali didn't mean it out of hatred, he was playing mind games, selling the fight for the most part. Frazier wasn't the brightest guy, he was a fighter through and through, he wanted to get in the ring and just fight, he was made for that not for everything else that came with it.

Ali did betray Malcolm X and chose the NOI over him when Malcolm X wasn't with the NOI anymore and he has stated that it was one of the biggest mistakes he ever made. Listen, Black people were not treated fairly at that time and there many laws in place that ensured that it continued. It makes sense why Ali could have had the opinions he did at the time, he felt threatened and like a second-class citizen. Look at Floyd when you ask him about Manny Pac a few years ago, he always felt threatened even though fans of the sport just wanted a fight between the two, he always felt extremely threatened. Evident in his speech, response and body language.

Ali is the greatest boxer ever but he was the ultimate puppet. The things he said to Frazier showed his lack of education and pure ignorance. I think the things Ali said about Frazier hurt Joe more than any punch or racist remark coming from some not African American be because Joe respected Ali before and Ali used his powerful platform with the media to tear him down.

On a side note Frazier was a grown man and if he couldn't forgive him so be it let's just hope the bitterness didn't consume him be dude Ali definitely apologized begins closed doors I just wished he would have did it out in the open but oh well, he's not my hero and some would say he ultimately got what he deserved anyway. Do onto others as you would have done to you.

obviously you guys are too sensitive to be discussing this matter.

Frazier degraded himself, not the other way around.

The movies and the documentary footage never told the whole story. A lot of people are compassionate towards Joe, and that's understandable, but its way more to it. Ali was simply hyping the fight and insulting Joe's boxing ability saying he was flatfooted and slow. He said he wasn't the real champion. It wasn't until Joe called him by his government (slave name) that Ali started the more personal attacks. Joe knew what he was doing by calling him Clay. It was the biggest insult and slap in the face to Ali at that time. Ali was passionate about his name and religion. He could understand why whites would not accept his new way of life by dropping the slave mentality. But he was highly offended and hurt by his "brother" not calling him by his "saved" name. That's when he referred to him as an Uncle Tom. That is when it got very personal. I think both guys were good men. They simply got venomous towards each other. No one else should look down on either one of them. It was between those two. They were pissed at each other and said cruel things. That has nothing to do with their character as men.

The reason why Ali bashed Frazier so much was because Ali was a Muslim, and a member of the NOI. They were pro-black and bashed the White man for the problems Black-America had suffered. Joe was completely different, more like an Uncle Tom kind of person.
