I think Vargas is alot more skill then he is given credit for and Cotto has alot more heart and guts then he gets credit for also!!! This battle is a war for sure but in the end i think fernando is the bigger puncher an a bigger man and as they say a good big man always beats a good little man!!!

I see a lot of triangle theories floating around from both sides. 1 saying Cotto can't beat Quartey or Winky, the other saying Vargas couldn't beat Mayorga. Horrible arguments.

Lets look at tangibles. Vargas was a big, strong jr middleweight. Cotto is a small jr middleweight in a weaker era. Both have shown tremendous skill. (Vargas was outboxing Tito in the middle rounds of their fight). Cotto has become a solid boxer over the years.

But Cotto would'nt have the skill, size, nor power or strength to deal with a prime Vargas. He may be slightly a better boxer, but his lack of stamina & his size deficiency would be too much for his slightly superior skill to overcome.

That statement holds no value. Vargas was shot to pieces by the time they fought, as was Mayorga when he fought Cotto.

cotto looks like a really good boxer against someone like margarito. but if you look at cotto/pac and jmm/pac you can see the difference between a great boxer and a good one. vargas boxed in all his best fights. winning the title against campus (who is just as good as margarito, if not better). winky backed him up and he boxed him. and he boxed quartey in his best performance. cotto has not shown those kind of boxing skills vs. top level fighters.
