Let's use Saul "Canelo" Alvarez for example. Dude is 20 years old with 30+pro fights yet posters on here claim its ok to bring him along slow because he's a young inexperienced prospect. Ok. Yet Larry Merchant tried to pimp this "prospect" as a potential opponent for Pacquiao's next fight. Hmmm, who has Alvarez fought? If he fights 3 times a year for the next ten years he'll be 30 with 60+pro fights, will he then be a contender and need to step up his competition?

So when does a fighter go from a prospect to a contender?

He's fought nothing but scrubs and unranked fighters mostly. He's not ready for the big time yet.

Hilarious............
Your a prospect at least until you can have a celebratory drink in the locker room after winning a big fight............even when they don't drink.
