I know guys are protected and all, but the overall quality coming from the amateurs has seriously declined so there are less people fighting and less talent coming through the ranks so these guys can keep getting checks despite declining.

Mayweather doesn't even have to be at the top of his game to beat guys and he's damn near 40. Pac stopped being a killer yet is still being competitive when he's clearly lost a lot and is strictly in it for a fat check as well.

I think it speaks to the lack of depth of talent more than guys being pampered and protected.
With guys like Brook, Thurman, Crawford, and Garcia around there was no excuse to be fighting Bradley for the third time and Berto ever.

While the talent may not be good as it once was, fighting guys like Rios, Algeiri, and Maidana twice isn't exactly a showcase of the best of this generation.

It's like what the movie Fight Club states if you worship material things, they end up OWNING YOU. YOU work for those things putting time and money to upkeep and for WHAT?!! NOTHING because material things can't be taken with us, and it's only our CREATIVE works that influence and make a difference to the world at some point. Obviously he's past that point as a multi millionaire
Well, I don't base my moral compass on Fight Club but it seems that your philosophical rant started about him being a senator to make a difference, then ended up on material possessions. In the middle you neglected to realize that money is the most empowering tool when it comes to making a difference. I've seen it first hand as someone who has done a lot of work for charities throughout my life.
If you've seen pics of Pac's home and cars, it should be obvious that all his millions are not all going into material possessions.

Anyhow, back to subject, my point is that if you have an entire litter of kids and a lot of charitable interests, it's hard to turn down such an incredible opportunity for income, especially when you worked so hard to get there and the window is able to close forever.

They have both fought everyone they needed to and have nothing to prove to anyone.
