Basketball is popular in China a lot of countries in Asia have a basketball leagues , big clubs in Europe have a basketball teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona basketball is probably top 3 or 4 in the world in terms of popularity

Hockey is a physical sport and is way more popular worldwide than American Football. NFL isn't popular because it's confusing, boring and slow. I've attempted to watch a full NFL game several times and quit every time. There's like 15 seconds of actual game play and then 15 minutes of commercials. Why would anybody want to watch that. It feels more like a reality show about a sport than an actual sport.

Plus it's a realitvely young sport. Maybe in 50 years it will gain some popularity worldwide but I doubt it.
