Why 40-45 Y.O. Foreman was so good in 90's?

90's... Era of Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, Bowe etc.

But 40-45 y.o. Foreman was boxing very well even at that age... And was looking good going toe to toe with Prime Holyfield.

    1991: Holyfield vs. Foreman

Does it mean 70's Heavyweight Era was the Best of All Time?

Because Foreman is the legend and 90`s were not so good.

Yes, 70`s era is the best. 90`s were pretty poor.

It just goes to show you how good those heavies from the 70s were. Imagine they were transplanted into the 90s, they would make a mockery of the likes of Bowe, Moorer, Golota, Tua and co and also beat the upper echelon.

In terms of Foreman himself, he still carried power, Throughout the 80s and 90s he could still punch and punch damn hard. No one felt comfortable trading with him. Holy made it through on grit, age and a great chin. Moorer couldnt.

"Era of....", sure, but he didn't beat any of those guys.

His big win, Moorer, was a notch below IMO.

Gil Clancy said Foreman was always nervous and it affected his stamina when he was younger. When he made his comeback he was more relaxed. Watch how relaxed and focused against Moorer, he was way down on the scorecards, but believed in his power and didn't chase Moorer around or get anxious. Waited for the perfect moment.

Foreman was 42 y.o. when he fought young & prime Holyfield, and was 45 y.o. when he beat Moorer in 1994. He was far from that Foreman who destroyed anyone except Ali in 1970's.

No foreman is not good, he is slow and plodding, he doesn't cut off the ring in his 40's like he did in his 20's, he only jabs and throws the right hand. But one thing that foreman has against the 90's Heavyweights is his experience. He knows how to bait, when to throw the right hand, and how to lure them in to the right hand. He measures the pace of the opponent, gauges his power to test the chin of the opponent to see if it can be knocked out in one right hand. Foreman spends the majority of the time thinking on how to lure in the opponent into his right hand and knock him out, by observing how they lunge, when they would step on to his sides to avoid his right, or when they would slip, causing foreman to lose majority of the rounds.......then Foreman knocks them out.

I believe Old Foreman's Ring I.Q is top 10 ATG, he is that smart as a boxer in the 90's. The only ones that survived foreman are the ones that has super hard chins like Holyfield.

              90's Old George> 70's Big George.

Nah... That's too much... Old George wasn't the same fighter he is 70's. 90's version of Foreman couldn't move and was standing infront of opposition most of the times, taking punches to face. Chin was there though.

Meanwhile his loss vs. Ali was a sensation.

Foreman had insane power. That punch didn't even look like he put much behind it. Knocking out guys with arm punches.

The 90s looks like the golden age compared to this era though. On the whole the best guys fought each other.
