MMA fans and Conor fans in particular are all butthurt because the boxing community wasn't immediately impressed by Conor before he even stepped in the ring.

UFC is basically like WWE and has the same type of fans that like to be fed bull**** and buy into any sort of hype. We're talking about a sport that promoted Ronda as a once ever human being and look how that ended up.

In boxing, no one gives a **** about how good you look in training or in sparring or in some other sport. Even established champions like GGG or Wilder aren't given credit by some fans because they haven't beaten a marquee name yet. Olympic gold medalist Joshua was doubted by a lot of people before he beat Klitschko. That's just the way the boxing community is. Of course someone who is 0-0 and claims he's going to KO Floyd inside 4 rounds is going to be laughed at.

MMA fans don't understand this and think that boxing fans are arrogant yet in reality it's the MMA fans who are totally ignorant and oblivious about boxing and most of them never watched any serious boxing other than Mike Tyson and RJJ highlights.

Then they come up with ridiculous claims like "McGregor is not going to box like a conventional boxer" and "boxers are too used to their style and don't think outside of the box" as if there is a single style of boxing. Also there's this whole strawman thing that "boxers don't want to learn anything new" when in reality boxing sees a lot of completely new and inovative styles every decade. Just in the last 25 years we had Tyson, Whitaker, Roy Jones Jr., Floyd, Rigondeaux and Lomachenko displaying some very unique styles of boxing and bringing new things to the table. If anything, boxing is the most diverse sport when it comes to different styles. You could mimic the boxing styles of certain fighters and boxing fans would recognize who it is you're imitating more often than not because boxing is so diverse and there's so many different things top fighters can do.

I don't care if they don't respect it but it's annoying that they're completely ignorant about boxing.

The reason why McGregor's approach doesn't work however is because in order to have an unconventional and unorthodox style (like those great boxers that I mentioned had/have) you have to know the boxing fundamentals first so you know what you're up against. You can't bend the rules if you don't know what the rules are in the first place. You can't be confident in your style until you test it in actual fights against top level opposition and that's what boxing has proved us a million times. That's why even Lomachenko lost his 2nd pro fight against Salido.

Also, it works the other way around as well, if Floyd "hasn't faced anyone like Conor" then for sure Conor hasn't faced anyone even remotely similar to Floyd. Who do you thing is going to adapt better in a boxing match? Obviously it's going to be someone who is more used to fighting all kinds of people in boxing than a novice. Floyd can come out with a different style for every round and Conor is not going to be used to anyone of those styles.

If anything, in regards to boxing the modern MMA fans have become just like the MMA detractors in the 90s who doubted in jiu jitsu and grappling and said things like "He's not going to go there to wrestle, he's going to go there as a karate fighter/boxer/kickboxer and KO him" or "this BJJ fighter has never seen someone like this Kung Fu specialist" or "this Wing Chun artist is going to use his death touch". MMA fans are now saying the same ridiculous things regarding boxing talking about Conor not going in there to box but to fight as an MMA fighter and how he has this supposed "death touch".
Very good post one i will have to go over...

A bit of a stretch but even MCgregor know his limitations and knows unpredictability is his only chance bc he has no inside power punching which i think will be his down fall.

The death touch?A bit hard to do with padded hands...lol..ive seen guys been put to sleep by those DEATH touches and a martial artist myself and can see what Connor does...its just confusing to fighters who dont understand the angles of simple and often unecccesary stances .All these guys fell for that when its actually smoke screens to any decent fighter who did more than box. Is this Floyd?we'll find out if he falls for those blatent smoke screens and if he was as good as we all thought bc NO elite fighter falls for them.

Folks don't understand how much power you need to generate to knock a man out with 12-8oz gloves in a sanctioned bout vs 4oz gloves. Nor do they understand how hard it is truly land on a guy with slightly above average footwork compared to their non existent footwork. I'd wager if you put Bones Jones in the squared circle and give him a heavy handed middle to super middleweight to spar with he would get dropped by the 4th or 5th round. I'm only giving him that much because he's exceptionally athletic, has an insane reach advantage over the hypothetical middleweight and has somewhat fast hands by mma standards
        Yes this^

It baffles me how people think anything differently but when you talk about it guys like Eff Pandas say you're "insecure" about boxing. I don't give a **** about mma vs boxing - it's just that it's obvious that you don't understand boxing if you think the "boxing" in mma is good.

I would put Dmitry Bivol lightheavy against the best of the best heavyweights from the UFC and I'd bet cash money he knocks them out in one round, but definitely two

Problem is, it's not about power, it's about technique, technique that a mmgay fighter lacks.

got in an argument with some dude who keeps telling me why connor has a chance and why hes so deserving of this fight. Then I finally convinced him its BS and he starts getting mad saying well UFC fighters are real fighters and way tougher than boxers! How many boxers would win in a street fight!?

Don't argue with idiots...this forum is full of these tools...not to mention, if any of them were GOOD boxers they'd stop getting ass hammered by dana sweet **** in the locker room and go and make some real money.
