  • Froilan Saludar: The Next Next Pacquiao?

Run down on Froilan Saludar, one of The Philippines hotter prospects

    http://www.boxing.com/froilan_saluda..._pacquiao.html

A sure way to tell a boxing superstar is when the search for his replacement begins before he retires. “The Next Manny Pacquiao” was anointed even before Pacman had reached the lofty heights of the pound-for-pound number one slot, wonder boy Nonito Donaire named the heir apparent before either man had begun to peak. But that isn’t enough for a nation as boxing mad as The Philippines. The very definition of the globalization of our sport, The Land of The Morning unashamedly pursues “The Next Pacquiao” through a series of cards backed by the country’s leading promoter, Sammy Gello-ani. A boxing powerhouse boasting 10 Ring ranked fighters, the Philippines is outgunned in this department only by the US (33) and Mexico (27), who seem to remain untouchable at the top of boxing’s tree, and Japan and the UK, who have 16 and 12 respectively. So expecting the next next Pacquiao to come from their country is perhaps not unreasonable, even if they already have the next one.

Not least because they are the only country actively looking.

but seriously, how many Filipino fighters have been dubbed "The Next Manny Pacquiao" over the years? I remember AJ Banal, at some point, even Bernabe Concepcion now Donaire and Gesta lol... Donaire is better than Pac.

No he just sucks. If they think Pacquiao and Mayweather are cherrypickers, the Filipino Flash took it to the next level.

No offense but is the Filipino community desperate for a replacement cause their dude is falling off or what? How many Mike Tysons or Floyd Mayweathers are out there?

How many boxers do you really know have been "duplicated"? Hell not even Chavez Jr could mimic his own dad.

You still going by his Darchinyan win? There's a reason why this guy's opponent selection has been so ****ty lately and he SHOULD be in his prime.
