  • Mayweather cherry pick myth debunked

    Rankings are all subjective; however, they are a critical element to the fight game. The ring magazine has been around for 100+ years and is the most prestigious source for all boxing rankings. WARNING: if you're a mayweather hater pls stop now - this is ether.

    Per The Ring

    130;

    Hernandez #champ
    Corrales #1
    Manfredy #5
    Chavez #3

    135;

    Castillo #champ
    Castillo 2 #1

    140;

    Gatti #1

    147

    Judah #3
    Baldomir #champ
    Mosley #1
    Hatton (unranked 140 champ)
    Ortiz #2
    Guererro #2
    Maidana 2 #5
    Pacquaio #1

    154

    De La Hoya #5
    Cotto #1
    Canelo #1

    P4P

    Corrales #5
    Hatton #8
    Marquez #2
    Mosley #3
    Guererro #10
    Canelo #10
    Pacquaio #2

    Objectively, there's no one with a resume with this many ranked opponents and undefeated. Mayweather is easily top 10 of all time.

        lol exactly. Mayweather didn't make the rankings. Those guys had to be doing something right if they were all ranked that highly. There's about 9-10 HOFers in there

            It's amazing how many past prime fighters continuously reside in boxing's top 10 P4P rankings.

                With the exception of Judah (and maybe Hernandez??) all these guys were coming off big wins.

                    Is Mosley Prime? Is Dela Hoya Prime? Is Pacquiao prime? Is Marquez Prime and not pulled from light weight? Is Cotto Prime?

                    All A-level fighters that Mayweather fought where passed their prime.

                    Mayweather fought Prime B-level fighters, and Past Prime-A level fighters.

                    Hatton was B-level
                    Corrales was B-level
                    Castillo was B-level
                    He fought them in his primes but they were not A-level. And Hatton got pulled from Welterweight.

                    These are the fighters that has ATG resumes and actually fought A level Prime HOF in or near their best weight class.
                    SRL: Thomas Hearns, Roberto Duran, Wilfred Benitez, Marvin Hagler (Passed his prime but still good)
                    Roberto Duran: Prime SRL, Prime De Jesus, Davey Moore, Carlos Palomino
                    Manny Pacquiao: Prime Marco Antonio Barrera, Prime Juan Manuel Marquez, Prime Timothy Bradley, and you could Argue slightly passed it Cotto and slightly passed it Morales
                    Muhammad Ali: Prime George Foreman, slightly Passed prime Frazier, Prime Ken Norton, and supposedly Prime Sonny Liston

                    In what ways did Mayweather have wins that are compared to the Prime A-level wins that these guys have?

                    Mayweather had NUMEROUS CHANCES to have a Prime A-level fighter in his Resume. A Prime Manny Pacquiao, A Prime Miguel Cotto, A Prime Paul Williams, yet he did not take it because of "reasons". Miguel Cotto is from Puerto Rico and is too far, Manny Pacquiao has to do drug tests in his terms, leave top rank, join TMT, and Paul Williams is a nobody despite having great recognition.

                    Mayweather's best win to date is a KO'ed ancient 36 year old Pacquiao, let that sink in for a moment.
