Interesting, Nas samples a well known and legendary rock song for the track "Hip Hop Is Dead" to help him get his point across that hip hop is really dead (rock music is seen as a competitor and opposite of hip hop).

Money Over Bull****- nice track- set the album off nice
You Can't Kill Me- good track- a good follow up track
Carry On Tradition- nice track- so far the album is nice
Where Are They Now- didn't care for it- I can see what he was doing but it's definitely a skipper in my opinion.
Hip Hop Is Dead- good track but loses some points for using the same beat as Thief's Theme
Who Killed It- didn't care for it- just can't get into it
Black Republican- not as impressed with it as others are
Not Going Back- nice track- getting back to where it started off at
Still Dreaming- nice track- see above
Hold Down The Block- nice track- The best track in my opinion
Blunt Ashes- nice track- A little slow but it still nice
Let There Be Light- nice track- I love the beat sample
Play On Playa- decent track- I still don't get the Snoop Dogg the pimp bull****- alright track overall
Can't Forget About You- good track- It's a good sample but really wouldn't look for this track when listening to the cd.
Hustler's- nice track- Definitely a in the ride track
Hope- decent- It's a original but I really need a beat to get down to it.

          16 tracks

          8 really nice tracks.
          3 good tracks
          3 decent tracks
          2 tracks I didn't care for

If the album was only 8 tracks long I would definitely say it's classic but it has more than a few tracks that I probably wouldn't listen to much.

My final rating- Really good but not what it is hyped up to be. That's just my opinion though.

I was listening to it today for the first time, after listening to Kingdom Come. For me, Nas has a couple of songs on his effort that are better than anything on KC, but Jay's album is more consistently good all the way through, with only 2 or 3 weak songs.

The Game's verse on Hustlers is ****ing sick, "I was the only Compton ***** with a New York state of mind", crazy.

I think it is a classic for this time but time will tell. I didn't really see anything inventive from Nas aside from Who Killed It?, which is rare. I rate it the same as Stillmatic.
