Caracas - Venezuela

I came back to the US in Oct of 1998. I have not gone back since due to many reasons, most of them status related. Venezuela is a country where people take Christmas and celebration to an extreme, the celebrate the whole month of December with music, food and drink, not to mention the dancing and all the craziness. Its fun and I miss it, however, this year this is not possible due to the ******* that now holds the presidential chair.
They have been on strike for 8 days, national strike because they want the president to quit and he wont, he took over all televison stations, newspapers etc so the truth behind his political scheme is not revealed, I have spoken to my friends and it hurts to hear them feel so stuck and unable to fully enjoy the holidays without fear.

Chavez is a dictator like Franco or Mussolini, what are doing USA,"the most powerful nation in the world", when we are looking a crazy man
destroy an "agradable pueblo" like the venezuelan??
We can't consent men like Chavez at the top of a nation!! :evil:

Friday a group of people were at a plaza protesting peacefully when a group of armed men came and started shooting at random...shooting children, women and men alike...this is the 3 time this has happened..still he is there.

unfortunetly leather, The US really cant do anything toward certain Tyrannies without backing now. The world looks at the US leaders as warmongers because of the **** going on in the middle east. It would look even worse if they turned thier interest to Venezuela. All Politics, why Castro is still there as well.

Well I hope for their sakes the president will resign. They have a national assembly do they not? of 165 members for so, do they not have the ability to impeach him? I know in 1999(maybe 98) venezuala altered their constitution to allow a president to be elected by people and serve a six year term. Is the president new? I would assume that he was the one elected in 99 which would make him going on his 4th or 5th year depending on the election dates. Regardless, I don't know much about the country, but what I know of you, I dont want you or yours to go through any pain or sadness, especially some that will overshadow the holidays.
