Because he had to do what he usually does, come close, plant some body punches and wait for it to take effect...

That's why I said in another thread he won't beat Manny. Manny's power has dwindled but he still has the speed and footwork. He tries approaching Manny for those body punches, either Manny won't be there or he'd be taking 4-5 quick ones and still won't get him.
